Privacy Policy

1. Overview

peg-finder is designed to be private by default. We don't require an email address, we don't use cookies, and your quiz answers are processed entirely in your browser. This page explains what data we do collect and why.

2. What We Collect

Quiz answers (optional analytics)

When you complete the quiz, we may send your anonymized answers (role, experience level, budget, preferences) to our server for aggregate analytics. No personally identifiable information is included. A one-way hash of your IP address is stored solely for abuse prevention — it cannot be reversed to recover your IP.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically collects standard server logs: browser type, operating system, referrer URL, and IP address. These logs are retained for up to 30 days and are not merged with other data sources.

Analytics (Umami)

We use Umami, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics tool. Umami does not use cookies, does not store IP addresses, and does not share data with third parties. All collected data (page views, referrer, browser, device type) is fully anonymized.

Newsletter (optional)

If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter after completing the quiz, we collect your email address. We implement double opt-in: you must click a confirmation link before receiving any newsletters. Your email is stored in our database (Supabase, EU servers) and shared with Resend solely for email delivery. Resend processes your email address under their privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email. Upon unsubscription, your email is deleted from our systems.

Bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

We use Cloudflare Turnstile on the newsletter signup form to prevent automated abuse. Turnstile is a privacy-preserving alternative to CAPTCHA — it does not use cookies, does not track users across sites, and does not collect personal data. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.

Feedback widget (Userback)

We use Userback to let you submit feedback, bug reports, and feature requests directly from the website. When you interact with the feedback widget, Userback automatically collects technical data: browser type and version, device type, screen resolution, the current page URL, and your IP address. If you actively submit feedback, any text, screenshots, or annotations you provide are also collected.

Userback does not use cookies. It uses your browser's localStorage to cache widget settings and identify you on subsequent visits. No session replay, console logs, or network request tracking is enabled. Feedback data is processed by Userback Pty Ltd (Australia), a SOC 2 Type II certified provider. 3. What We Don't Collect

  • Email addresses (unless you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter)
  • Names or account information
  • Cookies or tracking pixels (the Userback feedback widget uses localStorage, not cookies)
  • Advertising or retargeting data

4. Data Storage

Quiz analytics and newsletter data are stored in Supabase on AWS servers in Frankfurt, Germany (eu-central-1). Feedback submitted via the Userback widget is stored on Userback's infrastructure (AWS, SOC 2 Type II certified). Userback is an Australian company — feedback data may be processed outside the EU.

5. Affiliate Links

Some product links on peg-finder are affiliate links. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Our affiliate partners may track that the click originated from peg-finder — this is standard affiliate tracking and is governed by the respective store's privacy policy.

6. Hosting

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 44 Montgomery Street, Suite 300, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA. Netlify is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

We collect minimal personally identifiable information. However, under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Request information about any stored data
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to data processing
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
